The love of stories
So, you’re here to see if you like the sound of who I am and what I do. While there’s only so much you can learn in a few minutes, it’s the first step – even if we’ve already met in person.
Writing has been at the heart of everything I’ve done since my third year of university when I wrote my dissertation on children’s literature. I delved so deep that I was inspired to write my own young adult fantasy fiction novel (which has been rejected by several publishers I hasten to add). I’ve also self-published a romantic fiction novel that recently allowed me to join the Romantic Novelists Association – woohoo! So, I really need to get writing fiction again as I have so many ideas in my little head and I need to share them with the world.

The love of stories

The love of words
Working with words
After university, I became a journalist. I was always humbled by the trust people had for me to tell their stories and it was amazing to learn what lay beneath the surface of everyday life. It was often difficult not to get caught up in the emotion that accompanied these stories and because I have always been a ‘people-first’ person, I wasn’t always capable of putting feelings aside for the sake of a good story.
That’s why I moved on and became an English teacher which was even more rewarding – as well as incredibly challenging in all senses of the word.
It was being a teacher where I learned that mindset was everything when it came to learning. I taught my students more about self-belief, confidence and embracing their unique creative ideas than I did about the nuances of language. And it was inspiring to see what they could achieve when they just believed in themselves and set their creativity free.
The tale of two teachers
That’s why it broke my heart when I learned my hard work was demolished in eleven words. After months of building their confidence, the teacher who took over my GCSE class after I left the profession told them: “Miss Buckland has made you think you’re better than you are.”
You see, words are so incredibly powerful and the feelings they create can be used for good and bad depending on your intent. We all have this power in what we say and write!
I like to think my students continued to believe in themselves but unfortunately, as humans, we are more willing to believe the negative stories we hear about ourselves rather than the positive ones. Perhaps that’s why you believe you can’t write. If you do think this, I bet you can name the person who made you feel that way and even the moment it happened. But don’t worry – we can definitely work on this together and unlock the artist within in no time.

The love of positivity

The love of creativity
Once a writer, always a writer
Skip ahead a few years and I became a copywriter, running my own business and finally free to put my own values and beliefs first, rather than the needs of ‘the’ company’. You see, for me, it’s always been about people. Great relationships and supportive communities are the foundations for everything that is good in this world.
So, as a copywriter, I created content for clients that included webpages, ebooks, blogs, webinars and case studies. But I soon found that some business owners would ask for content without really understanding why they needed it, or what it was for. The reality was they were asking for it because they had seen someone else in their industry had done it.
So, the seed for Mindset & Messaging was planted and now I empower small businesses with an abundance of creativity so they can take control of their digital presence and produce content they are genuinely excited to share that is relevant to their audience – and to them.
The final piece of my puzzle
With a true understanding of your message and a new appreciation for your own voice along with your creative ideas, you will always have valuable content to share that creates engagement and generates interest in your business.
As a certified practitioner of neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), I can officially free you from the limiting beliefs around camera confidence or your ability to write, and remove the mystery surrounding the ‘dark art’ of content creation. Never again will you look at a blank screen with dread, or post something because you feel you have to.
Together we will find the magic in your messaging and transform your business from an unseen business and into a recognised personal brand.

Empowerment. Choice. Control
